In 2022, Candlefy and The State of New York embarked on a collaborative venture to introduce a collection of Premium Scented New York Candles.
This distinctive assortment features a combination of unique fragrances inspired by the vibrant neighborhoods of New York and the enduring "I Love New York" design created by the renowned artist Milton Glaser.
Milton Glaser, the celebrated American graphic designer, left an indelible mark on the world of design. One of his most iconic creations is the "I Love New York" logo. During the tumultuous mid-1970s, when New York City faced rising crime rates and financial woes, the State of New York enlisted the services of advertising agency Wells Rich Greene and the creative genius of Milton Glaser to devise a logo aimed at boosting tourism.
It was during a taxi ride to a meeting that Glaser conceived the design, which consists of a prominent "I" and a red heart overlying the letters "NY" in the American Typewriter typeface, symbolizing the spirit of New York. The inspiration for this design stemmed from Robert Indiana's "LOVE" sculpture, with its letters stacked on top of each other.
The "I Love New York" logo is ubiquitous throughout New York City.
Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, the logo acquired even greater significance, serving as a unifying symbol for the public. Glaser subsequently designed a modified version that read, "I Love New York More Than Ever," with a small blackened and scorched area on the red heart to commemorate the attack on the World Trade Center site.
In 2009, Glaser was honored with the National Medal of Arts by President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama at the White House, a testament to his unparalleled contributions to the field of graphic design. Glaser holds the distinction of being the first graphic designer to receive this prestigious award.
