Hey Nick, tell us about your work!
The Awkward Yeti is a comic about medical and mental health, and the everyday nuances of life - from the mundane to the existential. It features organs of the body, especially the Heart and Brain.
How did you get started?
I’ve been making comics for fun for as long as I can remember, but the Awkward Yeti comic strip started as a Facebook comic - I shared it with friends and family and was fortunate enough to build a large audience on social media.
Where do you find inspiration?
I find inspiration in everyday situations that I experience, or that I observe others experiencing. I like to think about what sort of internal battle led to a certain behavior, and that ends up being the basis for a lot of my comics.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
I would tell my younger self to make work that I enjoy, focus on the writing, and don’t be bothered so much by the opinions of others because it’ll all work out as it's meant to.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I am a certified scuba diver, and my most recent children’s book was about the ocean!
